Households sorting their waste is a key factor in making the whole recycling system work. That is why it is regulated by law.
Households, i.e. all residents, are obliged to separate recyclable paper, packaging, electrical and electronic waste, batteries, and bulky waste, and to dispose of this waste in the collection systems available.
Waste from households that is not discarded via the producers’ collection systems must be handed in to the municipal collection system. In other words, you are not allowed to dispose of your rubbish yourself without a permit, with the exception of garden waste.
Households are obliged to comply with the waste management regulations in place in their municipality. This applies to everyone, whether they live in a detached house or an apartment block.
